The Day Treatment program is licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health to provide
comprehensive outpatient mental health treatment services to youths who have been identified
as emotionally handicapped by their school districts. The program serves youths who live at
home or in the community and within approximately 50 miles of Parsons' main campus. The Day
Treatment program receives referrals from more than 40 school districts. Services are provided
on-site at Parsons' Neil Hellman School.
The program is designed to target and address youths' needs to either successfully return to
their public school district programs, graduate to higher education programs, or enter the
vocational world.
Professional services are provided by licensed psychiatrists, licensed clinical social
workers, other master level human service professionals, licensed and registered nurses,
and a variety of special education and health service professionals. Services include
assessment and health screening, comprehensive and integrated treatment planning, verbal
therapies (individual and family), medication management, case management, crisis intervention,
skill building and socializing training, and discharge planning.
